An intimate journey through the life of feminist science fiction author Ursula K. Le Guin.

Science fiction uses fantasy concepts such as alternate universes, time travel and new technologies to imagine how society could be organised differently. Feminist sci-fi in particular actively uses this to introduce alternative worlds in which dominant hierarchies of race, gender, sexuality, economic power and ruling norms are re-imagined, turned on their head or exploded altogether.

Ursula K. Le Guin (1929 - 2018) contributed to a transformation of the male-dominated science fiction genre, opening new literary structures and imagination to women and other marginalized writers.

Starring Ursula K. Le Guin and featuring fellow writers Margaret Atwood, David Mitchell, Neil Gaiman, Samuel R. Delany, Michael Chabon, Vonda N. McIntyre, Adrienne Maree Brown, China Miéville, Annalee Newitz, and Theodora Goss, as well as members of Le Guin’s family.

The film is in English.

*”Poekhali!” (Let´s Go!) – a famous take-off phrase by the first man in space Yuri Gagarin, 1961. This year we take off with the first woman in space, Valentina Tereshkova, in 1963. “Hey, sky! Take off your hat, I’m coming!” she shouted as she went into orbit….
